For colorful, handwoven Guatemalan fabric, available by the yard, please visit Little Mango Imports.
We have been collectors of the beautiful, handwoven Maya textiles of Guatemala for more than 20 years, and we're pleased to offer a large selection for your viewing and purchase. The items we offer for sale are all unique and representative of those which we import on a regular basis. Please be sure to visit our website often, as we update and add to our inventory regularly, it is constantly changing. Please realize that this website does not propose to be an analytical or historical study of Guatemalan textiles, but rather more of a catalog of items which we offer for purchase, and a compilation of information as we perceive it.
Our store is divided into categories which include; huipiles (blouses), cortes (skirts), fajas & cintas (sashes), tzutes (all purpose cloths), perrajes (shawls), and other Guatemlan textile items (rodilleras, camisas, pantalones, bolsas, etc.) You can click on the small image (thumbnail) and a new page will open, offering you large images, plus detailed information. We have huipiles from 85 different Guatemalan villages, they can be viewed according to village. Other types of textiles, such as; pillow covers, embroidered panels, pants, shirts, wallhangings, table runners and much more can be found on the asst Guatemalan textiles page. We have many wonderful paintings by Guatemalan artist, Mariano Rodriguez and his brother, Chavajay Mendoza.
In additional to the textiles of Guatemala, we also have a variety of hand crafted items from other countries. All items are personally hand selected by us during our travels. From Mexico: colorful, whimsical coconut masks & amate bark paintings. From Peru: appliqued arpilleras (soon to come - manta cloth & alpaca weavings). From Panama: molas made by the Cuna Indians. Eventually we will add many small Tibetan carpets from Nepal and old & new ikats from Indonesia. Please keep checking back, or join our mailing list and you'll be alerted as we add the new products.
