A MAYAN FAMILY

The above photograph was taken in March 2004. Pedro (21 yrs) and his wife, Lucia (age 24) along with their 2 children, Melisa & Pedro, live in the Guatemalan department of Solola. Until 1 year ago this family had no home of their own. Pedro struggled to be able to provide the basic necessities for his young family. In the past 2 years Pedro has helped us find many rare and unusual textiles, and through this association, Pedro has become an independent member of the business community. This has allowed him & Lucia to build their own simple house. Recently they were even able to add something they have never had before - electricity!
